“One should not adjust the asana to fit into one’s body structure but mould the body to the requirement of an asana”
BKS Iyengar, The Tree of Yoga p55
Peter Scott began teaching Iyengar Yoga in 1982 and training teachers in 1990. Based in Melbourne, Peter runs an Iyengar Yoga studio-cum-training school with his wife, Sue.
A past President of the Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia, Peter has been a long-term Assessment Committee member and served as Chair of Assessment Committee 1999-2000 & 2009-2010. He has taught extensively in Australia, and since 2002 to Hong Kong to give workshops and trainings. Peter’s yoga teaching calls on the subjective, experiential learning drawn from his daily yoga practice as well as objective, knowledge-based studies. He is especially known for his clarity and effectiveness in teaching, which has made him one of the most popular senior Iyengar teachers in both territories.
Sat 7th May, 11am – 2pm: Action in Practice creates Balance in Yoga
In this workshop we will study how precise actions support and strengthen balance in practice. The aim is to impart a deep and thorough understanding of the connection and range of Action in Iyengar Yoga, which includes Action, Non-Action, ‘Unaction’, Reaction, Complementary Action and Supplementary Action and how these aspects affect practice.
Sun 8th May, 11am – 2pm : The Wellbeing of the Neck and Shoulders
This workshop will aim to develop a clear and concise understanding of how to advance from simple ‘shoulder-asanas’ to the more complex weight-bearing asanas building confidence and courage in practice. This workshop will also look at the habits in practice that may discourage the well being of our neck and shoulders.
Mon 9th May, 11am – 2pm : Progressing into Strength – Bala
Arm balances, so inspiring when we see Guruji practicing them, can be daunting or strenuous when we try to practice them. This workshop will bring you clear steps to work progressively from known poses towards basic arm balancing poses – from the simple to the intense, practicing arm-balancing poses safely and energetically.
