Love Yoga Zone Voucher

In the aftermath since its closure last week, Yoga Zone is now appealing to its Members to buy a RM99 voucher to support its operations.

If you are a Yoga Zone member, you may have been frustrated when they shut down all their classes last week. This was also featured in TheStar on 1st August.

Basically from my understanding, many teachers and staff have not been receiving salaries for the last 2+ months. Some of these teachers and staff really love what they do and are doing their best to see the club through this difficult time.

So even without salaries, they continue to hold classes out of goodwill and are hoping that Members will buy the vouchers to help them through.

I’m sure many will agree that Yoga Zone has played a huge role in promoting health and yoga in the Klang Valley and even Malaysia. It will be sad to see them go.

Do spare a thought if you have been blessed by them in some way. There are great teachers there… I hope they can sought things out in this restructure and transition period.

Just as I write this article, TheStar reports today that a yoga centre in Bukit Serindit has closed shop with 150 members are crying foul over paid fees and no classes. It is sad to see such things happen.

I hope yoga schools will focus more on quality teaching… there are students and practitioners who would not mind paying higher fees for top quality teaching and a good practice environment. Instead of commoditising the teaching of yoga, I wouldn’t mind seeing higher fees and better services.

Yoga Zone has a huge member base, some 20,000 I believe. If it can scale down its operations and get back to basics, it can still turn a profit and regain lost goodwill among Members. A good start would be to start communicating more with members and reaching out to them with offers and services which add value to their lifestyle and yoga practice.

If you are a YZ student, I hope you will buy a voucher to support the staff and teachers there. The voucher is for unlimited classes for a month until 31-Dec-08 and you can give it to your family and friends too. This will help keep classes open for the time being until they sought things out.

I bought it with really lots of hope in my heart for YZ. Some might think it’s a stupid act but this is the least I can do for them.
More bad news coming in these few days.
Guess the hope becoming slimmer.

Yes I’m hoping they will survive too coz YZ has done a great deal to popularize Yoga in Malaysia. This week their website went down and outlets are closed as I understand. For any new management to make it work they need to break free from the legacies. Besides teachers and staff, I believe they owe a lot of money to suppliers and their rental must cost them a bomb. Not to mention all those customers who paid 1 year + subscription. The only way is to form a new entity to take over operations and maybe scale down a bit. Of course that will mean customers; advance payments are flushed down the toilet.

I would like to buy this RM99 voucher to support YZ, but I’ve call YZ and nobody answer phone. So where can I buy this voucher? And if i already bought this voucher, where can attend the yoga class until 31 Dec 2008?

Most outlets are closed this week, but it seems Taman Desa is open during day time. You can call them at 03-7980 2680.

Treat this as a donation to help the nice people there coz YZ may or may not survive this period 😉

Hi, I am one of YZ member. I would like to get more YZ’s recent updates… As I know most of the YZ outlets since 12 August till today… I feel so miserable as do not have announcement being released yet…
Understand that YZ is in hard time now, but I don’t think to post some message from TJ or any of the shareholders on the YZ wed site will be very difficult.
As a member, we are very passionate in yoga and been very patient to the YZ management… we are actually willing to wait and to pay more to support …but, at the same token we need to know what is actually happening. What’s make YZ so insufficient in fund. We just need the in-charge personnel stand out to clarify. And not just asking for BLIND support from us…
Lastly, please advice where & when we can get the YZ latest updates.
Thanks!

Hi Samantha
Last I heard, Yoga Zone is currently under Receivership, that means there is a firm of professional Administrators & Receivers handling the business (ie day-to-day management, receiving money and paying of suppliers, creditors etc). So it is probably not up to TJ or the shareholders/management how the company is run. From what I hear, there are heaps of unpaid bills including utilities supply, which means it may not be possible to conduct yoga classes like before. The staff do not even know the timetable, in some cases, the teachers turn up but the premises are locked up (maybe because no electricity/water).

Actually i am very agreed with samantha. YZ is asking the blind support from the members.
2 of my friends and i joined as life time member during end June 2008 and chosen to pay by 0% installment via HSBC bank. we only enjoyed the yoga classes for a month. and, now we don’t know how to go about it as we are still paying repayment to the bank every month. and we still have to continue to do so untill end 2009!!!
we feel extremely disappointed with YZ. YZ owe most of the staff & yoga teacher more than 2 months salaries. and it stop operating out of sudden without any announcement.. over expend, insufficient fund, slow recruitment due to economy down..i would said its all because of the tremendously poor management + financial planning failure.

i found myself damn stupid yet naive as i believed such a good price for life time membership!!! only RM3400 for Life!!?? or maybe it is a trap!!

it is not only about money, but the trust between the organization and the member.

I hopes this kind of up sad incident won’t be happened again in my life.

Hi, I have joined as member of YF in Kepong in April 08. The consultant told me that
thier club will be opening in August 2008. I have called up the phone number printed on the receipt but was not in service!
Can anyone update me how are we going to get back our member fees? YZ Kepong
is no longer open? It was closed when I been there! The hanging panel of the opening for the Fitness Club was taken off from the Blem Mall building!
Thanks.

I don’t think the bank will stop the instalments. From my understanding, once you sign up the bank gives YZ the whole amount, so now the bank is slowly getting it back from you through the instalments.

But you may have recourse against YZ through legal action for breach of contract. You will need to consult a lawyer if you wish to pursue this course, and even if you win, there may not be any money to pay you!

dear all, the story of this episode taught us not to sign up any life time plan in future. Because non of us can predict the ‘life-span’ for the club as well as ourselves .

Dear All,
My hearts goes out to all of you folks that have signed up for ‘life membership’ with your honest hard earn money, budgeted from your financial commitments is truly very sad.

I have learnt painfully from the past to never again sign up for any life-time-membership with any organization no matter how large how attractive the package appears to be cos anything is possible and nothing in impossible.

Just look at Lehman Brothers, AIG and Meryil Lynch…..
